Things That All Moms Need (That Money Can’t Buy)
This post is about things that all moms need throughout this journey called motherhood.

Certain things in life just feel incomplete without the right essentials. Think about it, a movie night isn’t the same without popcorn, your favorite drink, and a cozy blanket. Sure, you can watch the movie without them, but it doesn’t hit the same. The journey into motherhood works the same way. There are just some things that all moms need to make this beautiful (and sometimes messy) journey a little smoother, more comfortable, and full of love.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any tangible items to recommend, but these things go far beyond anything money can buy. They’re the kind of essentials that truly matter throughout your life as a mom. So, let’s not waste any time, here are a few valuable things that all moms need to embrace and enjoy being a mommy.
What does every mom need?
Guidance from God
Seeking direction from God should always be at the top of your list when it comes to motherhood. After all, who better to guide you than the One who created both you and your child? God wants to help you, but He’s waiting for you to ask; however, sometimes you don’t have to ask; God just does. Be honest with Him about what you need, whether it’s patience, strength, or clarity on which direction to go next.
As you walk through the different stages of motherhood, remember this truth: God will provide. He’ll give you the clarity, peace, and understanding you need along the way. He knows how overwhelming it can feel to care for another human while trying to take care of yourself too.
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6
Being a mother is not easy, it takes faith, love, and a lot of hard work and determination. But don’t forget, you’re doing an incredible job. Even on the days when it feels unnoticed, your effort, care, and commitment are seen, both by God and by those little eyes looking up to you every day.
Faith and Patience
Faith and patience go hand in hand, like peanut butter and jelly on a sandwich. You really can’t have one without the other, especially when it comes to motherhood. This journey can feel like a rollercoaster, full of ups, downs, twists, and unexpected turns. Some days, you’re thrilled to be on the ride, and other days, you’re just asking God to please let you off for a moment to breathe.
In both seasons, you need faith, faith that things will get better when life feels heavy, and faith that even in your best moments, God still has more in store for you. And just as important, you’ll need patience, patience to wait on what you’ve prayed for and to trust God’s timing, even when it feels delayed.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Romans 12:12
If no one’s told you lately, you’re doing amazing. Keep holding on, keep believing, and never stop keeping the faith.
Mommy Time-Out
Creating a mommy time-out may sound a little funny, but let’s be real, sometimes mommies need a time-out just as much as the kids do. Except ours isn’t for misbehaving; it’s for surviving. You give so much of yourself every single day, mentally, emotionally, and physically, that it’s only fair to take a few quiet moments to reset.

Your mommy time-out spot doesn’t have to be fancy. It could be the corner of your bedroom, the kitchen pantry, an empty closet, or even your car in the driveway. Anywhere you can catch your breath and just be for a moment. Bonus points if you can sneak in a snack you don’t have to share (because let’s be honest, that last cookie was supposed to be yours anyway, lol).
Think of this as your mini recharge zone, a place to pray, breathe, reflect, or simply sit in silence. Taking a mommy time-out isn’t selfish; it’s necessary. Because when you take time to gather yourself, you come back to your little ones calmer, lighter, and more ready to tackle the day with love and patience.
Mom Tribe
It’s such a blessing to have friends you can count on, but it hits differently when those friends are moms too. Having a mom tribe makes this motherhood journey a little easier to navigate. It’s comforting to know there are people who get it, the sleepless nights, the messy days, and the beautiful chaos that comes with raising little humans. It’s your reminder that you’re not walking this road alone.
Behind every great mom is a tribe of other great moms who have her back.
Your mom tribe doesn’t have to be made up of just your friends either. It can include your mom, sisters, cousins, or anyone who adds value and encouragement to your life. Everyone brings something different to the table, and age doesn’t always equal more wisdom, so even if you’re a younger mom, don’t discredit the perspective and love you bring.
And here’s the fun part, your mom tribe isn’t only for talking about mom life (though there’s plenty of that!). You can plan momcations, brunch dates, or even a simple movie night. Whatever helps you laugh, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.
At the end of the day, motherhood is a blessing, and having a supportive tribe makes it even sweeter. As the saying goes, ain’t no hood like motherhood, and when you’ve got a mom tribe by your side, you’re reminded just how true that is.
Sense of Humor
Have you ever heard the saying, “I had to laugh to keep from crying”? I think every mom can relate to that at some point. Maybe it’s the moment your baby covers their head in Vaseline and decorates the room with baby powder, you’re frustrated on the inside but can’t help but laugh because, honestly, they look too cute to stay mad for long.
Motherhood is unpredictable, and sometimes laughter is the only thing that gets you through. Laughter is good for the soul, and it’s one of those things that all moms need to keep their spirits lifted during the wild ride of motherhood.
To laugh at yourself is to love yourself.
Mickey Mouse
Let your kids see your silly side, that mommy can be both playful and serious when it’s time to be. That balance teaches them it’s okay to enjoy life while still handling business when necessary. Things moms need for themselves aren’t always physical; sometimes, it’s emotional release, peace of mind, and a good laugh that reminds you to take it easy and not carry everything so heavily.
Remember, even in chaos, choose joy. A joyful heart makes the hard days a little softer.
Be Open to Accept Help
As moms, we often slip into “superwoman mode,” thinking we have to do everything on our own. But one of the most overlooked things that all moms want (and truly need) is support. It’s okay to take off the cape sometimes. Allow people to lend a hand; you deserve rest just as much as your little ones deserve your best.
Taking breaks isn’t a weakness; it’s wisdom. Enjoy your mommy time-outs, but also be mindful of who you let around your children. Not everyone who offers help has the right intentions, and that’s okay. Trust your instincts and protect your peace.
When accepting help, be open to doing things differently if it makes life easier. Sometimes help shows up in unexpected ways, from people you least expect. Don’t miss the message because you don’t like the messenger; the wisdom might still be valuable.
And when you can, be that person for someone else. Lifting another mom up or simply listening when she needs to vent can make a world of difference. After all, we’re in this together, even when it feels like we’re doing it alone.
Permission to Give Yourself Grace
One of the most important things that all moms need, and often forget to give themselves, is grace. Motherhood isn’t about perfection; it’s about growth, learning, and love. You won’t always get everything right, and that’s okay. Give yourself permission to slow down, to breathe, and to not have all the answers.
There will be days when the dishes stay in the sink, the laundry doesn’t get folded, and dinner looks a lot like takeout. But guess what? You’re still doing amazing. This motherhood journey isn’t measured by how perfectly you manage your to-do list; it’s about the love, presence, and care you pour into your family (and yourself).

Grace is one of those quiet but powerful things moms need for themselves. It allows you to rest instead of overthink, to restart instead of regret, and to recognize that even in your messiest moments, you’re still a good mom.
So today, take the pressure off. Whisper to yourself, “I’m doing the best I can, and that’s enough.” Because it truly is.
Conclusion
Thank you for reading about these valuable things that all moms need on their motherhood journey. These aren’t just physical items; they’re reminders, lessons, and small shifts that can make motherhood a little lighter and more fulfilling.
Motherhood isn’t easy, but it’s beautiful. Remember to take care of yourself, laugh often, and give yourself grace. And don’t forget to share these with another mom, because sometimes, the things moms need for themselves start with encouragement from someone who understands.
So tell me, which one of these resonated with you most? And be honest… am I the only one who sneaks away for a mommy time-out with snacks? 😄
